The potential role of the internet and social media for personal and business Development

On 25 January 2011, the 360° Network hosted Michael Niyitegeka, Head of Corporate relations Office and lecturer of IT Strategy and Management at Faculty of Computing and IT,Makerere University at the 360° iForum and Cocktail at Garden City Rooftop. At the same event, the US Mission in Uganda launched its Social Media Outreach program.

In his exciting presentation, Michael shared his expert thoughts about the role of Social Media and Internet for personal and business development in Uganda. He noted that the Internet was not longer a product, but rather had become a market place and challenged guests on how they had or were preparing to position their individual brands and products in this market place. He also warned guests against becoming “Blackberry holders with post office mentality” and advised that having a website is not an indication that one understands its potential.

The iForum and Cocktail was proudly sponsored by the US Mission, Orange Uganda, Fireworks Adverting, SMS Media and Red Pepper.
